Facebook's Slingshot App Now Available for Everyone
After WhatsApp, Facebook is now at it again.
Facebook just announced recently that Slingshot is now available for everyone to try. There has been a lot of speculations about how this Slingshot will change the social media experience. Is it going to be a game changer or is it just another app that people would uninstall after a few days?
From a consumer’s perspective, this app may just make sharing photos and videos online more exciting. The whole idea of this Slingshot is to be able to share raw and spontaneous photos and videos. You can create something new and different; share your everyday moments with lots of people at once. Yes, if you are one of those who love taking ‘selfies’ and sharing their daily activities on social media then this might give you a different kind of high.
But there is a catch though. Your friends won’t get to see what you just shared with them unless they ‘sling’ something back to you. No free-loaders. No creepy lurkers or stalkers.
Marketers and businesses should be able to find ways on how to make Slingshot work for them. One use I can think of right now is by sharing teasers or previews on products, contests or events. Interested participants can just share something back– it could be a confirmation or their entry to the contest or event.
I wonder how this app will impact content marketing. This will definitely be one platform which can make sharing contents more interesting.
This app is now available for iOS and Android users.
What do you think? Would you like to give Slingshot a try?
